KUALA LUMPUR, June 16 — Operation Malaysia launched by the international hacker group known as Anonymous has succeeded in not just bringing down the official website of the Malaysian government, but also spawned attacks on at least 27 other websites. These include at least five other government sites such as the webpages of the information ministry, the fire and emergency services department and the land public transport commission. The Malaysian government portal was inaccessible and unresponsive at 9am, June 16, 2011.As of 8.30am, malaysia.gov.my remained inaccessible, while other hackers appear to have taken it upon themselves to target sites like Sabah’s tourism website (sabahtourism.com) and the Tour Malaysia travel guide (tourmalaysia.com.my). On the Sabah Tourism webpage, hackers claimed to have extracted the details of more than 3,400 of the site’s users and posted the particulars of 392 accounts. However, Sabah Tourism has regained control of the site but has since taken it offline. Tour Malaysia remains defaced by a group called Dragon Force. Visitors to the site were greeted by a heavy metal song title “Through The Fire And The Flames” and messages criticising the government’s move to block certain websites. Anonymous had warned earlier this week of an attack on the official website of the Malaysian government in an act of protest against Internet censorship. According to a statement posted on the Pastebin website, the group named the recent move move to block file sharing sites like Pirate Bay and whistleblowers WikiLeaks as “inexcusable” acts of censorship which took away “basic human rights.”
“For rules were meant to be broken. And corruption was meant to be washed away and forgiven. Now we will wash your corruption away so be prepared,” the group said.
The Sabah Tourism site was taken offline by its administrators.The so-called “hacktivists” earlier announced that the attack targeting ww.malaysia.gov.my —known as “Operation Malaysia” — would take place today at 3.30am local time.
Anonymous has taken credit for other attacks such as in December 2010 in response to pressure against WikiLeaks to stop the controversial website from publishing classified United States diplomatic cables. In retaliation, it brought down MasterCard and Visa’s websites and staged attacks on other online commerce sites perceived to be anti-WikiLeaks such as Amazon and PayPal. The planned attack comes despite this week’s arrest of 32 suspects in Turkey after the group also cited censorship for attacks on government sites there.

Oldest conjoined twins..

DAYTON (Ohio) - TWO US men who've been certified as the world's oldest living male conjoined twins are moving in with their little brother. A charity in Machias, New York, called the Christian Youth Corps Inc says it's helping 58-year-old Donnie and Ronnie Galyon by modifying the home of their brother, Jim Galyon, in the spring. The twins live in a tiny home in Dayton, Ohio. Their brother lives in nearby Beavercreek.
Donnie and Ronnie are listed in the Guinness Book of World Records. They're joined at the torso. They have four arms and four legs and separate hearts and stomachs. They share a lower intestine. The twins retired from a touring carnival. They are in declining health and could face going into an institution. But their brother says he wants to keep them at home so they're free and independent.

Attacks on churches are now extended to schools and guard posts and more states. Where are the police? No matter what IGP Musa Hassan says, it is all bullshit if his force can’t find the culprits and charge them. After telling us they are not enough to protect our safety, they are really taking their time to catch the perpetrators of this recent crimes against Malaysians, against Islam itself. The police used to boast of having one of the best special branch officers in the region, hey where are they? It seems they can’t find those religious criminals although the minutes are ticking away like crazy. How many more churches, schools must be damaged before the perpetrators are punished? Must we wait until somebody’s life is at stake before it happens? Strange that ministers can lament about this religious crisis as if they have nothing to do with it. I saw Najib Razak on TV last night already making fiery political election like speech that UMNO is the only party that can rule the country.
The Education and Tourism ministers are crying foul that crime rates and the latest incidents of church bombings will effect the numbers of foreign students and tourism. What do you expect? This is no longer Malaysia truly Asia. It’s Malaysia truly bullshit! Najib stop making political speeches and stop telling us UMNO is not involved. Politics is about perception and I am afraid the perception against UMNO now is oh…in such a sorry state. Say instead that if you ever found any UMNO member involved, he or she will be taken to task and punished appropriately. Don’t skirt around the issue and don’t dilly dally. As more churches and public places are being bomb, where are the police? Oh, I forgot, they couldn’t even figure out where Raja Petra is, and he isn’t even a terrorist. The Allah issue has now literally become a burning issue. We are appalled that extreme elements have resorted to fire bombs to target three churches in the Klang Valley. These are reprehensible and cowardly acts that deserve to be roundly condemned. Malaysians are disturbed and disillusioned by the lack of a firm stand by the national leadership in putting a stop to the heat and tension that is being deliberately generated by the bigots and zealots in our midst. Both the Prime Minister and the Home Minister had reportedly ''backed the right to protest within mosque grounds”(Malaysian Insider). The PM was quoted in the NST as saying, “As far as possible, we do not want people to protest, but we cannot stop them from doing so if they gather at mosques and if confined to a certain area.” This may have been taken by some as a tacit go-ahead signal. Knowing how volatile the Allah issue had become, it was the height of irresponsibility to take such a stand. This stand did not pay any attention to national security, our peace and harmony – favourite catch phrases - which are commonly used to justify detentions of those demonstrating against the government or their policies. In the name of national security, our peace and harmony, water cannons had been used in the past to disperse crowds, make arrests and brutally beat up demonstrating Malaysians gathered in or near mosques and temples. But in this instance, no harsh instructions or stern warnings were given to discourage certain people from turning this political issue into an explosive one.
The talk around town suggests that certain quarters were desperate to win back lost Malay support and were therefore fanning this issue for selfish reasons. We call upon the PM and the Home Minister to take a public stand and condemn acts and deeds that are not in keeping with the principles of Rukun Negara. In this most volatile period, it must be the national interest that should be paramount and must prevail. Malaysians too must stand up for tolerance and respect for our differences as well as for the rule of law. We must isolate these un-Malaysian bigots, who are a small minority.

A year ago a footage emerged from a remote village in India. The video showed a young girl receiving surgery to separate her fingers, which were badly burned and fused together. Why did this operation make headlines around the world? The surgery was performed by a 7-year-old boy named Akrit Jaswal. Now 13 years old, Akrit has an IQ of 146 and is considered the smartest person his age in India a country of more than a billion people. Before Akrit could even speak, his parents say they knew he was special. 'He learned very fast,'says Raksha, Akrit's mother. 'After learning the alphabet, we started to teach him joining of words, and he started writing as well. He was two.' At an age when most children are learning their ABCs, Akrit was reading Shakespeare and assembling a library of medical textbooks. When he was 5 years old, he enrolled in school. One year later, Akrit was teaching English and math classes.
Akrit developed a passion for science and anatomy at an early age. Doctors at local hospitals took notice and started allowing him to observe surgeries when he was 6 years old. Inspired by what he saw, Akrit read everything he could on the topic. When an impoverished family heard about his amazing abilities, they asked if he would operate on their daughter for free. Her surgery was a success. After the surgery, Akrit was hailed as a medical genius in India . Neighbors and strangers flocked to him for advice and treatment. At age 11, Akrit was admitted to Punjab University . He's the youngest student ever to attend an Indian university. That same year, he was also invited to London 's famed Imperial College to exchange ideas with scientists on the cutting edge of medical research. Akrit says he has millions of medical ideas, but he's currently focused on developing a cure for cancer. 'I've developed a concept called oral gene therapy on the basis of my research and my theories,' he says. 'I'm quite dedicated towards working on this mechanism.' Growing up, Akrit says he used to see cancer patients lying on the side of the road because they couldn't afford treatment or hospitals had no space for them.. CONJOINED twins Ganga and Jamuna Mondal support their family with a bizarre circus act - billed as The Spider Sisters. The 39-year-old pair, who have two heads, three legs and four arms, are among the rarest types of twins in the world. And curious spectators flock to see them crawl insect-like across the stage in their native India for five hours a night - in return for just £26 in wages. The cash is enough to feed their extended family of 22 for a fortnight. Jamuna says: "People are drawn to us. They think we are strange. When the twins were born in West Bengal, two shocked midwives fainted. Doctors found the girls were joined at the pelvis, but each has a normal upper body and one functioning leg. Their other two legs are fused into a single limb with nine toes.Ganga says: "We don't go out much as we get nervous."
Another of the sisters' fears is being separated - after doctors warned it could be fatal. But US conjoined twins expert Dr James Stein said they COULD survive after testing them in TV documentary Human Spider Sisters - on Discovery at 9pm tomorrow.
Yet the sisters opted to stay together. Cuddling her sister, Ganga says: "The way God made us is the way we will live."

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 6 — Malaysia is the third most desirable country to live in the Asean region behind Singapore and Brunei. Overall, it was ranked 66th globally out of 182 countries, according to UN data released this week. Data collected in 2007 before the global economic crisis ranked Singapore as the 23rd and Brunei the 30th most desirable country to live in. Both countries were listed as having “very high human development” together countries like Sweden, France, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Germany and the United States. Norway retained its status as the world’s most desirable country to live in, according to the UN data, which ranks sub-Saharan African states afflicted by war and HIV/AIDS as the least attractive places. Data collected prior to the global economic crisis showed people in Norway, Australia and Iceland had the best living standards, while Niger, Afghanistan and Sierra Leone scored worst in terms of human development. The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) index was compiled using 2007 data on GDP per capita, education, and life expectancy, and showed marked differences between the developed and developing world.
Malaysia was ranked in the category of countries with “high human development” together with countries such as Romania, Costa Rica, Mexico, Cuba, Hungary, Bahrain, Russia, Saudi Arabia and Lebanon. In comparison, Thailand was ranked 87th while Indonesia came in at 111th, and were only classified as having “medium human development.” According to the country report for Malaysia, life expectancy at birth in Malaysia 74.1 years, compared with 82.7 years in Japan. Malaysia has a 91.2 per cent adult literacy rate which is lower than Indonesia’s 92 per cent and Georgia’s 100per cent. Malaysia’s GDP per capita in 2007 was US$13,518 (RM46,495), compared to Botswana’s US$13,604 and Liechstenstein’s US$85,382. Singapore’s life expectancy was estimated at 80.2 years, its literacy rate was 94.4 per cent and GDP per capita was US$49,704. Malaysia was ranked 63rd in previous year’s index.

Why The 1Malaysia F1 Team Is Never Gonna Work..

So apparently, we are gonna have our very own F1 Team.

The prime minister recently announced that 1Malaysia F1 Team will be formed. The car will be made in Malaysia, the driver will be Malaysian, even the pitstop would be manned by Malaysians. The team would be lead by AirAsia boss Tony Fernandes. And it'll be a joint venture between the Malaysian government, Proton, AirAsia, among others.

I guess when they made the announcement, they probably expected Malaysians all over the country to react with pride - "Wow, we have our very own F1 team! Competing with the big boys like BMW, Ferrari and McLaren on the world stage! COOL!"

Unfortunately, the ugly truth is that most Malaysians do not share the same joy and enthusiasm as those involved. Even when no taxpayer's money is involved, a majority of people simply have no confidence in this project.

And I guess they have good reasons why. I mean, come on, this a Malaysian Government + Proton + AirAsia project.

Off the top of my head, here are five reasons why the 1Malaysia F1 Team is never gonna work.

#1 Every time our competitor's car crash and bang into the wall, instead of racing to the finishing line, our 1Malaysia F1 car suddenly slow down to a crawl.

Why?

Must take a closer look at the car accident mah.

#2 Halfway driving, our 1Malaysia F1 car suddenly drives to the nearest petrol station.

Why?

Government just announced, "tomorrow petrol price increase by 0.01 cent." Wah lan eh, better fill up tank first!

#3 Halfway driving, suddenly our 1Malaysia F1 car swerves left and right and bang into other people for no reason.

Why?

Our 1Malaysia F1 driver's wife just called. The idiot one hand on steering wheel, the other hand holding his handphone talking to his wife!

#4 Other F1 cars have one driver. Our 1Malaysia F1 car has THREE drivers.

Why?

Because "1Malaysia" mah. Must have one Chinese, one Malay and one Indian driving. Otherwise other people might get jealous and protest!

#5 As soon as the gun went off, all the other cars zoomed out from the starting line, but then our 1Malaysia F1 car was still stuck there.

Why?

Malaysia was ranked a poor 48 out of 66 countries for Internet broadband quality in a study conducted by Oxford University and sponsored by Cisco.
Horrible isnt it! We pay so much for our broadband but the reality is we get such sub standard service for it. I think that Streamyx is slacking and they are the biggest player in the market. There seems to be talk that there are big improvements in the pipeline but god knows when that will happen and how much it would cost. But does the investment guarantee better speeds? Monopolies suck and our broadband service sucks. Wonder when we the talk stops and we step up to be a true force to reckon with!

See! What a man! This is what we call a "Real Man with Balls".

Psychologist research study described such man as big, strong and friendly, and most of all, able to withstand punishments and are very forgiving. He still loves her, after all that.

“Both my parents are Malay. My mum’s heritage includes Chinese, Thai and Arab, while my dad is Minangkabau. Due to my skin colour, I am often mistaken for a chinese.
I’m happy that I don’t have the typical Malay look but I do get annoyed when people call me Ah Moi or ask me straight up “Are you Chinese or Malay”
Like, why does it matter? Before I used to answer “Malay” but now I’m trying to consciously answer Malaysian instead.. There’s this incident from primary school that I remember till today. Someone told me that I will be called last during Judgement Day because I don’t have a Muslim name. (Tunku Abdul Rahman’s great granddaughter Sharyn Lisa Shufiyan, 24 Conservationist) Of course, I was scared then but now that I’m older, I realise that a name is just a name. It doesn’t define you as a good or bad person and there is definitely no such thing as a Muslim name. You can be named Rashid or ALI and still be a Christian. I’ve heard of the 1Malaysia concept, but I think we don’t need to be told to be united. We’ve come such a long way that it should already be embedded in our hearts and minds that we are united. Unfortunately, you can still see racial discrimination and polarisation. There is still this ethno-centric view that the Malays are the dominant group and their rights must be protected, and non Malays are forever the outsiders. For the concept to succeed, I think the government should stop with the race politics. It’s tiring, really. We grew up with application forms asking us to tick our race. We should stop painting a negative image of the other races, stop thinking about ‘us’ and ‘them’ and focus on ‘we’, ‘our’ and ‘Malaysians’. No one should be made uncomfortable in their own home. A dear Chinese friend of mine said to me once, “I don’t feel patriotic because I am not made to feel like Malaysia is my home, and I don’t feel an affinity to China because I have never lived there.. I know some baby Nyonya friends who can trace their lineage back hundreds of years. I’m a fourth generation Malaysian.. If I am Bumiputra, why can’t they be, too? Clearly I have issues with the term. I think the main reason why we still can’t achieve total unity is because of this ‘Malay rights’ concept. I’d rather ‘Malay rights’ be replaced by human rights. So unless we get rid of this Bumiputra status, or reform our views and policies on rights, we will never achieve unity. For my merdeka wish, I’d like for Malaysians to have more voice, to be respected and heard. I wish that the government would uphold the true essence of parliamentary democracy. I wish for the people to no longer fear and discriminate against each other, to see that we are one and the same. I wish that Malaysia would truly live up to the tourism spin of Malaysia truly Asia. Malaysians to lead – whatever their ethnic background. Only ONE NATIONALITY -MALAYSIAN. No Malays, No Chinese, No Indians – ONLY MALAYSIANS. Choose whatever religion one is comfortable with.

That's what Pas Youth thinks. And they have a point about her being sexy. But Malaysia can handle her booty-liciousness. Perhaps Pas Youth, can't. I think Beyonce is hot and sexy. But just because she is, does not mean that we should not let her perform. Pas Youth says it is not against entertainment, but is just objecting to this American superstar's concert here because of her sexy attire and seductive dancing. Its vice chief Ahmad Sabki told the News Straits Times yesterday that Pas Youth is unhappy with the trend of bringing in Western groups to Malaysia. "We know that these groups are not suitable for our Malaysian culture. Their appearance and attire are against our Eastern identity." He said even if Beyonce were to dress in a jubah (Muslim attire), she was still known for her "sexy image". "We are against Western entertainment that promotes hedonism. We do not want our youths to be misled.
"We have in the past objected to Indonesian dangdut artiste Inul Daratista performing in Malaysia as she is also well known for her sexy gyrations." He regretted that the media had portrayed Pas as a conservative party that seeks to ban entertainment.
Beyonce will be performing at the national stadium in Bukit Jalil at 8pm on Sunday (Oct 25). It is part of her "Beyonce I Am ..." world live tour. She was scheduled to perform in Malaysia in 2007 but gave Kuala Lumpur a miss and performed in Jakarta instead.

Oh dear, oh dear. This happens every time a foreign artiste or group has a scheduled concert in this country. Pas Youth probably feels that it has a responsibility to keep Malaysia safe from undesirable foreign elements. Just fulfilling its role as an Islamic party. But Pas Youth cannot be deciding what kind of entertainment Malaysians should and should not have. Pas Youth has got to stop this. Tak payah-lah nak fikir-fikir pasal ni semua. Malaysians are not unfamiliar with Beyonce, or other foreign artistes -- sexy or otherwise. They are on TV (MTV and channel V), and in other forms of media, including Youtube. So, yes, TV has a profound influence on viewers. And that is why you see our kids all dress up like Beyonce. Sigh. Besides, this is not your average concert. Tickets for the concert are so expensive. The cheapest is RM93 and the priciest RM583. Oh, by the way. Beyonce does not go around topless (as in the photo) -- in case you're wondering. Not on stage, nor off. That's just for a photoshoot.

Unfriendly neighbours: A group of Indonesian nationalists blocking a road and stopping vehicles in search of Malaysian nationals in Jakarta yesterday. — AFP

Anti-Malaysian sentiments are running high in Indonesia. News agencies including Bernama and AFP have reported that a group of Indonesian men, armed with sharpened bamboos, has set up a road block to identify Malaysians. Passers-by in Jakarta's Jalan Diponegoro have been asked to show their IDs by these angry Indonesians. The emotions have been fanned by the local Indonesian media which have blamed Malaysia for almost everything. Malaysians have been branded as "thieves" following the use of a Balinese dance in a documentary on Malaysia. Discovery Channel has since made a correction but the Indonesians are still angry. Malaysians have also been branded as arrogant and in one case, a town experiencing traffic jam, a low budget air, presumably Air Asia, has been rapped for bringing in too many tourists. Last night, the Malaysian Students Department sent out SMS alerts to Malaysian students to avoid certain parts of Jakarta for their own safety. The Indonesian press has ran stories claiming Malaysia has stolen its culture such as the Rasa Sayange from Maluku/Ambon and the Sundanese' angklung. They are not buying the argument that Malaysia and Indonesia shares the Malay culture, saying its Indonesian culture.

As the paranoia spreads with the increasing number of reported deaths worldwide, I couldn’t help noticing the plethora of mask types that are being worn. Is the right mask being worn? More important, are people wearing them for the correct reasons?

First a few facts:

1.The H1N1 virus, like any flu virus, spreads in the air as droplets, mainly through the coughs and sneezes of people who are sick with the virus, but it may also be spread by touching infected objects (including hands) and then touching your nose or mouth.
2.The flu virus is 0.08-0.12 microns in size (micron= one millionth of a metre). Small enough to pass through most masks!

So, using an ordinary facemask, whether single-ply, 2 ply or 3 ply, is really to protect other people from you. Its designed to keep the germs in and should be worn by those having a influenza-like illness(ILI).(fever 37.8°C or greater) and a cough and/or a sore throat).

Otherwise, if you want to keep the germs out & protect yourself from getting the flu, then you need to use the N95 mask (also called respirator). It must be tight-fitting and is rather uncomfortable to wear over long periods as extra effort is sometimes needed to inhale.

Whichever mask you use, you need to practise social distancing (2 metres away), social etiquette (blocking off a sneeze and cough) and frequent handwashing.

SHAH ALAM: Authorities have confirmed today that the Michael Learns To Rock concert originally scheduled for next month has been cancelled due to ongoing protests from PAS Youth leaders.

PAS Youth has insisted that it is disrespectful for the sentimental rock band to hold a concert during the holy month. They were never taken seriously. But due to the events of recent days, it is understood that authorities have decided to play it safe and bow down to the youth group's demand. It is believed that this is to prevent anyone else from chopping off the heads of people named 'Michael' then carrying it around as a form of protest.

"With this decision today, we wish to assure all Michaels in Malaysia that it is finally safe to come out to play." informed Information Minister/Hip Hop Star, Rais Rais Yatim. However, it is understood that those who had already purchased tickets to the concert will not be refunded. Instead, ticketholders will be treated to a similar, but more sensitive local rock band, called PAS Youth Learns To Talk.

According to PAS Youth Learns To Talk lead singer Michael Ahmad, the group will be opening the concert with their hit single, That's Why (We Make) You Go Away, followed by their number one hit in Shah Alam Top 40 Charts last week, Twenty-Five Protests Too Late. When asked if the group is trying to rip off songs from Michael Learns To Rock, guitarist Michael Yusuf clarified, "No lah. All we're trying to do here is make the song more acceptable. Why listen to songs like Take Me To Your Heart lah? So emo! We wanna make our concert more happy! More spiritually positive! That's why we wrote our number one hit song, Take Me To The Ramadhan Buffet."

The press conference ended with a gotong-royong and a live performance of their hit song, Paint My Mosque.

It is the end sequence from the movie Slumdog Millionaire. If you haven't watched this movie yet, you must absolutely go and do so because it didn't win Oscar for Best Picture for nothing. The ending credits of the movie is a stereotypical Bollywood dance to a Hindi song called 'Jai Ho',; which has unexpectedly become so popular even The Pussycat Dolls are doing a cover version for it. Yesterday was the end of Datuk Seri (now Tun) Abdullah Ahmad Badawi’s era that many of us remember as a period of uncertainty and unfulfilled promises. It was also an era of Pakatan Rakyat - the rise of the voice of the people. Today marks the beginning of the era of Datuk Seri Najib Razak, whom we believe will try to build a new legacy for the country and himself. Unfortunately in the last month alone, abuses of power and infringement of freedom have been enforced in such a way that many Malaysians believe we are reverting to the old undemocratic years of Mahathirism.
If Najib is really serious about improving sensitive dynamics in the country, I hope he would remember that he is the Prime Minister for all, and not just for UMNO or Barisan Nasional, or any particular ethnic group. Najib’s must get his priorities right and restore the integrity of institutions such as the judiciary, the police, the anti-corruption agency and the civil service, as well as to free the press and the media and to uphold the rule of law. Najib should learn to listen to the voice of the people. I promise bipartisan cooperate with Najib on any move that will lead us to the First World with humility and integrity.

Once again, V's day is upon us. Bouquets of flowers will go on sale. Teddy bears wrapped in glittering ribbons will be on display. Heart-shaped chocolates go on sale. Hotels and restaurants will advertise their romantic candle light meals and champagne. Ahhh~~~ The sweet gimmicks of romance~~~~! I was listening to Fly.fm yesterday evening and the deejays were talking about why women make a fuss about V's day, and they were asking people to call and give their opinions. During that duration I was tuning in, most callers were women. And they were all making a really big deal, and felt that women SHOULD make a big deal about V's day. One caller even got very emotional, so much so I thought she was going to cry on air. She was going on about how V's day, to her, is a big deal because she expects her partner to actually put thoughts into doing something romantic, maybe surprise her, take her to dinner etc. Then she went telling the deejays that her partner is not really the romantic kind, not really into all these mushy stuff so she felt like she was missing out on something. And while she was sharing her thoughts, she sounded like she was choking. Another caller said she makes a big deal too, and went on to share that after 2 years of dating, her partner was not so into celebrating V's day so much now bla bla bla. One caller, a guy, said his wife would actually remind him that V's day is coming up, dropping hints that he should think of something to do. Come Feb 1st, the wife will gradually remind him "Valentine's day is coming... Valentine's day is coming...!"

The month of February, according to this site, has long been celebrated as a month of romance. There are a few versions of the story as to who St. Valentine really is, with no clear indication to which story is more accurate. Somehow, romance is involved, hence the celebration of February 14th.

If you ask me, V's day is not really a big deal. It's special because it's been commercialised to be a special day. And if you go to a mall on V's day, you'll see many girls carrying bouquets all over the place (look at me! I got flowers! You don't HARHAR!). Restaurants will be packed to the brim on V's day. Everyone will be out and about.

I think V's day should be celebrated everyday, not just on a certain date. We should always treasure the people we have around us everyday, right?

Slumdog Millionaire, a “feel good” movie that won four awards at the Golden Globe has raised eyebrows amongst the world. I managed to catch the movie and personally i felt it was a good movie, not the best i have seen compared too the Transformers or a Dark Knight. It has yet to hit our shores or this region but after its Golden Globe exploits i sure hope it makes it here. I liked the main role played by Dev Patel’s performance, It was fresh and natural and im sure he has a bright future ahead of him as far as his acting career is concerned. Will you watch it at the theaters if it makes it too our shores?

Chinese lion dances can be broadly categorised into two styles, Northern (北獅) and Southern (南獅). Northern dance was used as entertainment for the imperial court. The northern dance is acrobatic and is mainly performed as entertainment. Sometimes, they perform dangerous stunts. Southern dance is more symbolic. 22 year-old Kugan died while in police custody

This post was meant to express my deepest condolences to the family of the late Kugan a/l Ananthan, regardless of what crime he did, who had died while being in police custody in Subang Jaya police station (20/01/09). It was purportedly reported that Kugan died due to asthmatic problem, although his family has denied that lame reason. Anyway, lets keep our fingers crossed hoping that the post-mortem report would eventually lead to the real cause of his death and those responsible for it shall be convicted. And finally, this case would be the latest addition to the “Malaysian Indian deaths in police custody“, which has already archived quite a similar number of cases for the past few years involving Malaysian Indians.

Dr Mahathir Mohamed has called for a global boycott of the U.S Dollar and U.S made products, including Coca Cola in protest over U.S’s support for Israel. Dr Mahathir’s utter contempt for U.S and complete hatred for Israel is almost like an article of faith. Thus, the call to boycott Coca Cola and anything American does not come as a surprise but is merely a reaffirmation of his long held view. Strange, he did not have the courage to call for a boycott of anything from Egypt and Jordan, Islamic countries having relationship with Israel. Anyway, when Dr Mahathir calls on Malaysian’s to boycott U.S made products and say that “ you won’t die if you don’t drink Coca Cola”, he should rightfully highlight how much Malaysia is dependant on U.S. Then, right thinking Malaysians can make an informed decision whether we should really boycott U.S products. What Malaysians ought to know is that Dr Mahathir has failed to divulge the fact that U.S is Malaysia’s single largest trading partner and in 2007 trade with U.S was valued at RM149.2 Billion and accounted for 13.4% of Malaysia’s global trade. For the period January to July 2008 trade with U.S stood at RM50.2 Billion. This are not some ‘kacang putih’ figures. Further, U.S remains an important source of foreign direct investment in the manufacturing sector in Malaysia. In 2007, the U.S was the 4th largest source of foreign direct investment with total investment of RM3 Billion. American multinational’s corporations have also made substantial investments in Malaysia and have brought with them suppliers and subcontractors to invest here. They have contributed to the building up of local supply chains. Add to all these are the various preferential treatments, grants, trainings, scholarships and many other benefits which Malaysia is unashamed not to refuse or reject. Thus, when Dr Mahathir tells Malaysians that “you won’t die if you don’t drink Coca Coca” he has also failed to reveal who the majority of the F&N Coca Cola (M) Sdn Bhd, employees are. A boy believed to be the youngest sex change patient in the world wants to bring forward the operation two years.The German youngster, christened Tim and now called Kim, was allowed to start hormone treatment at the age of 12. Now aged 14, Kim told Germany's Stern TV his dearest wish was to have the final cosmetic surgery to remove male genitalia when he is 16. Under German law the operation can not take place until Kim is 18, which would mean either a law change or travelling abroad. Pictures of him on German TV showed Kim looking like a typical teenage girl, playing with strands of his long hair while seated in the pink attic bedroom of his parents' house. He keeps a piggybank filled with change he has been saving for the operation - since the age of five, even though all the costs so far have been paid by the German National Health Service. When he was just two Tim tried on his older sister's clothes and played with Barbies. As soon as he could speak he told his parents "I'm a girl" and later had a row where he declared he wanted to "cut off my thing". His father, named only as Lutz P. for legal reasons, said they realised then it was not just a phase and that the problem was serious. Kim's mother, who has not been named, said: "If your child has a heart defect you send him to a specialist, but when your child is transsexual, everyone seems to have an opinion." Kim's family turned to Dr. Bernd Meyenburg, head of a clinic for children with identity disturbances at Frankfurt university. He has studied transsexuality since the 1970s but said Kim was a "real dilemma". He said: "If we do something about it, it's irreversible. And if we allow nature to take its course, that too is irreversible." He added however that: "it would have been a crime to let Kim grow up as a man".

It was sad day after reading today's paper about this news.. Well, 6 months ago, I was admitted in the Assunta hospital due to virus fever. I also got another patient in that room, whereby its a 2 beded room. I met this guy Peter, who is bedridden. He can't speak, see, eat, just name what a normal human can do but he can't. I always have a chit chat with his so called mom. The lady rescued him from a drain in the Damansara area with his umbilical cord still attached. She took care of this guy for almost 22 years. How blessed is this lady. Peter's favourite's toy was a simple plastic sword kept at his bedside. He would smile while slowly flicking the sword around. He suffered from cerebral palsy, bronchitis and asthma. He was also blind. I pray for lord to take Peter's soul and let it be merged in one with thee with love and grace. God's bleesing for everybody who have taken good care of Peter..

The worlds economy is going to the dogs again. Many countries around the world including the mighty Singapore have declared recession and that its going to get worst next year. I read a report saying that Singapore think that it will take at least 2 years before things gets back to normal again. The good thing about how the Singaporean government is handling it is that its telling the companies to retrain their staff and not to simply lay them off. Thats one of many initiatives taken to put in some damage control into a horrible situation. Closer to home, the government have re-iterated that our economy is strong and its build on solid foundations and we are not effected by the global meltdown. I personally think that this time around the situation is different from the last slowdown. The variables are different and some serious measure must be taken to ensure that the average Malaysian is not effected too badly! I read a report at Malaysiakini from a former aide to Tun M. In his blog he dared officials with a reward of RM5000 to prove him wrong but none did.

Hema Kassippillai, the Malaysian woman who had been reported missing since the terror attacks in this city on Wednesday, has been found dead. The body of Hema, 51, who had stayed at the Taj Mahal hotel, scene of the worst of the militant attacks, was found by a medical team in her room at 6pm (Indian time) yesterday. to 18 years' jail after she was found guilty by the Sessions Court here of three counts of voluntarily causing grievous hurt to her Indonesian maid four years ago.
Yim, 40, a former air stewardess, was found guilty of causing grievous hurt to Nirmala Bonat, 23, with a hot iron and hot water at Villa Putera, Jalan Tun Ismail here in January, March and April 2004. She was jailed for 18 years on each count but Judge Akhtar Tahir ordered the jail terms to run concurrently from today. In his judgment, he said the offences, committed several times by Yim were cruel and showed sadistic behaviour which could not be tolerated in the society. "To do it one time is cruel, more than one time is more cruel. You deserve to serve the jail term consecutively but it will be harsh if I send you (to prison) for 54 years, so the sentence will run concurrently," said Akhtar. However, he acquitted and discharged Yim of a fourth charge of causing hurt to Nirmala, 23, with a metal cup at the same place on May 17 2004 after ruling that there was a doubt as to whether the injury was caused on that day. The court had heard that Yim had poured hot water on Nirmala and ironed her breasts with hot iron, resulting in serious injuries to her breasts, thighs and back. The mother of four children burst into tears and was comforted by her husband after the court made the ruling. Amid her sobs she was heard saying:"Why, why is this happening to me?" Earlier, Akhtar concluded that Yim was the one who had caused the injuries to Nirmala and that the inference by the defence that Nirmala had self-inflicted the injuries was unsustainable and could not be accepted. "No person in the house saw Nirmala causing injury to herself. It is only a possibility raised up by the defence. I cannot agree that just a person merely knocking her head on a wall can lead to the inference that she can cause several serious injuries to herself. "I notice that the evidence of the accused started off by stating bad points of Nirmala and there was still underlying anger in her after three years, so I am not suprised if she caused the injuries. She also gave evidence that she had slapped the victim. She is capable of being physical. "From the evidence tendered, the accused exaggerated the flaws made by Nirmala in doing her house chores. To me that is not a reason to be cruel," said Akhtar. He also said that Nirmala's full evidence, which was supported by other evidence, showed that she was not telling lies. In mitigation, Yim's counsel, Jagjit Singh, said he could not mitigate that his client was remorseful as she maintained her innocence. Deputy public prosecutor Raja Rozela Raja Toran replied that the extent of the injuries suffered by Nirmala reflected the cruelty and inhuman nature of the accused. Yim will serve the jail term from today as her counsel has yet to file an appeal or seek a stay of execution of the sentence.

I just heard over the news that yoga is banned. I found the same news on Malaysiakini. Malaysiakini reported :

“The fatwa (edict) is meant solely for the Muslims to follow. Non-Muslims need not question or debate this because they are free to do whatever they wish. It is the Muslims who have to adhere to this rule,” he added. Shukor said once the edict was gazetted, it would be up to the state governments to plan implementation and enforcement laws. “Malaysia is not the only country which has declared yoga as haram in Islam. Singapore and Egypt have come out with the same edict as well.”

According to the Star, council chairperson Dr Abdul Shukor Husin said although the physical aspect of yoga, excluding worshiping and chanting, might not be wrong in Islam, the exercise should be avoided by Muslims as “doing one thing could lead to another”. "We discourage Muslims from practising yoga as a form of exercise because it will ultimately lead to religious worshiping and chanting which is against Islam.

Islam and Yoga

Yoga is not a religion. Rather, it is a set of techniques and skills that enhance the practice of any religion. A French author named Jean Déchanet discovered this in regard to his Catholic faith and wrote the book ChristianYoga (New York: Harper, 1960). In Malaysia Muslim’s case, I have found that Islamic yoga is a reality. It is possible to employ the skills of yoga to worship god better and to be a better human. Yoga arose from the matrix of the Hindu world, although according to Mircea Eliade it is of pre-Hindu origin and can be traced back to prehistoric shamanism. Like India's other gifts to world civilization, for example the system of place notation on which all mathematics depends, yoga is not tied to the Hindu religion but has a universal applicability. It helps one to follow one's own religion better whatever that may be. Yoga is no substitute for any Islamic requirement, it just as a valuable addition to the spiritual path of one’s religion. I totally disagree if Yoga banned for Muslims in Malaysia by authorities. Such act is more to the mockery of human rights, definitely not to protect the religion.

Just read from the news and received several sms-es that the Shah Alam High Court has ordered RPK to be released by 4pm today. After 56 days in detention, starting from September 23, RPK is back, and I hope, with more vengeance! Now that everyone’s secured in their position, with Najib Tun Razak sure of becoming PM next year, it isn’t necessary anymore to keep RPK in jail, is it? The other person who could have jeopardize Najib’s chances in the UMNO elections and premiership,Abdul Razak Baginda, has also been freed, free from the murder of poor Altantuya Shariibuu.
The coming days would indeed be very exciting!

Off late we read, see and hear of many traumatic cases of abuse, murder and mishaps from the media. When someone so precious is lost in such a senseless way, it makes me grateful that I am alive, for there is certainly nothing very precious about me. And then I realize, briefly, all too briefly, that I seldom take the time to be thankful for my life. I suspect I am not alone, and that too many of us just take life for granted. Regardless, you certainly don’t have to be religious to be grateful. I admire people who have a commendable attitude of gratefulness, and I wish I could be that way. As I write this, I am grateful for life and for the many, many blessings I have. But, I know me … it will not be long before I am taking things for granted again. In summary, I believe the very very basic Seven Wonders of Life should be dictated as :-

SHAH ALAM, Oct 31 —Political analyst Abdul Razak Baginda was today acquitted by the High Court here of abetting in the murder of Mongolian national Altantuya Shaariibuu.
Chief Inspector Azilah Hadri, 32, and Corporal Sirul Azha Umar, 37, who are members of the police Special Action Force (UTK), were, however, ordered to enter their defence to the charge of murder. Altantuya was allegedly shot before her body was blown up with explosives two years ago. Razak, 47, was charged with abetting them. He is a close associate of Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, and was known to have worked on government weapons procurement projects while Najib was Defence Minister.

Prices are really high and we as consumer need to think and buy what we need only. Well today, the leading UK hypermarket in Malaysia, Tesco Stores have launched the price cut in some of the most important goods. This is really a good move and hope other hypermarkets will do the same too..

A textbook definition of beauty reads; “the quality present in a thing or person that gives intense pleasure or deep satisfaction to the mind, whether arising from sensory manifestations (as shape, color, sound, etc.).” Do you wake up in the morning everyday and ask yourself, “What makes me beautiful, or do I look beautiful today?” Every body wants to be beautiful to have beautiful impression on other people. Whole world's cosmetics are just working on to make women beautiful, but its true that you can buy things with money but can't buy real beauty. You just can buy things with money to make it true. But the Creator doesn't want any kind of change in his creation. It is true that you look like nice if you have white skin, but just having white skin is not everything. It doesn't have to do everything with your personality. And instead of that the person whose skin color is okay (neither white neither black) can have better personality than the person having white skin color. Everything that shines doesn't mean its gold. If people are successful, its not because they are physically beautiful, Its just of their intelligence, the way they understand, their own understandings, their knowledge and their positive attitudes. Well, I always admire this lady. Is she beautiful.??

Did I ever mention that I love autumn? I don’t know for sure the reason why I like autumn so much but I can tell you this; I feel at ease looking at those pictures. It gave me that mellow feeling, sometimes can be a sad one and sometimes it can be a joyful one. Happy is in a way that autumn sort of reminds me of how happy it is to hear those cracking sounds you made when you step on the leaves.
