Parents file RM1 million suit over son's death at RMAF camp
KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 3, 2008) : The father of a 21-year-old Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) cadet who died during commando training today filed a RM1 million suit against the director of the RMAF camp at Bukit Jugra, Banting, Selangor, the Defence Minister, and the Malaysian government. K. Kannan, 44, filed the suit at the High Court here through his lawyer Karpal Singh, who is also Bukit Gelugor member of Parliament. He is claiming that the three defendants are negligently liable for Laskar Udara II K. Yogeswaran's death on Aug 4 last year, during commando training at the Bukit Jugra camp. Yogeswaran is Kannan's only son, and breadwinner.

The suit seeks;
> special damages of RM42,042 (includes burial, travelling expenses and parents' loss of earnings),
> general damages of an unspecified amount, and
> aggravated and/or exemplary damages of over RM1 million.
"He was only 21 at the time of his death, and various contradictory statements were made on how he died. In fact, the family found that the contradictions are too major to be dismissed out of hand," said Karpal. Source - theSun
